Sclerotherapy is minimally invasive treatment that includes an injection of medicine in the site of the small to medium size veins which makes them shrink. After the procedure veins will dissolve over a period of weeks as the body naturally absorbs the treated vein.
Unlike laser treatment, the sclerosing solution additionally closes the “feeder veins” under the skin that are causing the spider veins to form, thereby making a recurrence of the spider veins in the treated area less likely.
Neuropathy can be caused by factors such as diabetes, trauma nerve damage, nutritional deficiencies (especially lack of Vitamin B), alcoholism, autoimmune diseases, liver or kidney disease, Lyme and viral diseases, hypothyroidism, cancer treatments, and organ transplants; addressing these factors not only improves daily activities but also provides benefits like decreased drug interactions, enhanced opiate performance, avoidance of opiate use, improved recovery for athletes, and reduced disability with enhanced injury recovery.
Multiple injections of dilute sclerosant are injected into the abnormal surface veins of the involved leg. Compressed stocking are usually used for two weeks after treatment. Walking regularly during that time is important. Based on each individual case patient may require several treatment sessions separated by several weeks to significantly improve the appearance of leg veins.
